Daily Programme

 

Day 1 – Arrival in Riga

Arrival in Riga and free time to explore the city. Riga’s historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 2 – Riga, Limbaži (~20 km)

Travel by bus from Riga to Limbaži bus station, located in a renovated former railway station building. Limbaži is a Hanseatic town with rich cultural and historical heritage.

Hiking begins along the cycling and walking path towards Aloja, continuing on the Green Railways routes within the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve. Activities offered by Green Railways farmsteads include horseback riding, rural mini-zoo visits and local gastronomic products. Swimming and walks are possible along Katvari Lake and in Katvari Park.
Overnight in the Limbaži area.

Day 3 – Limbaži, Puikule, Aloja (~20 km)

After breakfast, hiking continues along the Green Railways route Puikule–Aloja. At Aloja railway station, it is possible to enjoy pizzas baked over an open fire.

Day 4 – Aloja, Mazsalaca (~15 km)

Hiking from Aloja to Mazsalaca. The journey concludes with a two-hour guided canoe trip on the Salaca River to the Skaņākalns cliffs, followed by a meal at a scenic riverside restaurant. Transfer Mazsalaca–Riga or return by public bus.
