Daily Programme

Day 1 – Arrival in Riga

Arrival in Riga and free time to explore the city. Riga’s historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the former Hanseatic cities.

Day 2 – Riga, Skulte, Limbaži (~50 km)

In the morning, e-bikes are collected at Riga railway station, after which the group travels by train to Skulte. From Skulte, cycling continues through the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve, along scenic roads and the restored Lāde–Limbaži Green Railways route.

Along the route, travellers can experience offerings from Green Railways farmsteads, including horseback riding, rural mini-zoo visits and local gastronomic products. In the afternoon, exploration of the cultural and historical environment of the Hanseatic town of Limbaži. Nearby lakes — Lādezers, Lielezers and Katvari Lake — offer swimming opportunities at well-equipped beaches.

Day 3 – Limbaži, Puikule, Dikļi, Zilaiskalns, Valmiera (~70 km)

After breakfast, cycling begins along the Green Railways route Limbaži–Puikule. The Puikule railway station was historically an important transport hub where the Riga–Tallinn and Valmiera–Ainaži narrow-gauge railway lines intersected.

The route continues along the Ainaži–Puikule–Dikļi–Zilaiskalns Green Railways route. Visits include the Dikļi Open-Air Concert Hall and an introduction to the Latvian Song and Dance Festival tradition, included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The programme also features Neikenkalns Hill, Vika Park, the Zilaiskalns Observation Tower, and a ride on railway bicycles.

The final cycling section leads from Zilaiskalns to Valmiera railway station, from where return to Riga by train is provided and bicycles are returned.
